This report was prepared by the City of Helsinki for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a Membership Monitoring Report to present the activities of Helsinki as a City of Design, so designated by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2014. The report describes Helsinki’s commitment to design and utilization of design thinking in the development of the city. The report presents Helsinki’s design initiatives at both international and local levels, as well as Helsinki’s contribution to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and the international community at large. The report presents Helsinki’s action plan for the four-year period 2023– 2026. The report also outlines Helsinki’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic with design.
