Beefing up advisory services

HELSINKI’S Avoin ovi palveluihin (Open door to services) project is underway, with the goal of improving the city’s advisory and guidance services in languages other than Finnish and Swedish. Among other things, the initiative will create a citywide model for enhancing services in different languages.

“As part of the project, we are making online visits to international peer groups and Finnish courses. For example, we recently put together a three-part Q&A session for Helsinki’s YMCA, where we talked about schools, young people’s employment services, and the city’s multilingual coronavirus information,” says Estonian-born project member Hanna-Kristina Einmann.

Another goal of the project is to establish a unifying network for people offering advisory and guidance services. This network will improve regional cooperation and help customers to more easily find the help they need.

Organizations wishing to join the network can contact project manager Marja Säikkä at marja.saikka@hel.fi.
